Introduction
AB Tasty is a simple and intuitive A/B testing solution. It allows you to modify your web pages in a few seconds using a visual editor, without writing code and without any technical knowledge.
This starter guide will take you through the process of creating your first A/B test.
Create a new test
To create your very first test :
- Log in to your account and click the “New test” link
- Enter the URL of your website. E.g. http://www.wikipedia.org
- Click “Create test”
You will be automatically redirected to the page editor

Move a page element
Right-click an element to move it. In the drop-down menu that appears, click “move”.
Once “move” has been selected, simply drag the element while holding down the right-hand mouse button.

Resize an element
Right-click an element to resize it. In the drop-down menu that appears, click “resize”.
Once this mode has been selected, simply click the bottom right-hand corner of the element and drag it while holding down the mouse button. This shows the element being resized in real time. Simply release the mouse button when it is at the desired size.

Hide an element
Right-click an element to hide it. In the drop-down menu that appears, click “hide”.
Once this mode has been selected, the element disappears. To undo an action, click the “trash” icon next to the relevant action in the “Modifications” menu on the left-hand side.

Create a new variation
A “new variation” button in the page editor enables a new variation to be created by creating a clone of the original page.
You can add a new variation at any time via the “variation” menu, by clicking the “+ New” button

Select a variation
You can switch between variations at any time by clicking the corresponding button in the bar at the top of the editor. In the example below, the “variation” button is selected

Choice of traffic
AB Tasty allows you to choose the amount of traffic for each variation.
In the editor’s properties menu (
), clicking the “Modulate traffic” button displays the following window:

Start your first test
To launch your test, click the “Start test” button in the top left of the editor:

When carrying out their first test, users without an account must sign up free of charge on the site in order to move on to the next page:

AB Tasty Code
Before being redirected to the Menu page, you will be presented with the AB Tasty Code. This should be placed on all your pages to ensure your tests function correctly. Once you have done this, you will be redirected to the Menu page.

If you skip this stage, your tests will not function correctly. You can return to this code at any time on the Menu page by clicking the “Code” button:

Menu page
This central page allows you to manage your tests and access AB Tasty’s range of tools. Here is an overview:

After validation, the user is immediately redirected to the editor page to carry out the test.
Actions: Activate/Pause/Clone/Delete a test
It is possible to carry out four main actions on a test via the Menu page (see image below)

Here they are, presented from left to right:
- The
(Play) icon starts a test. - The
(Pause) icon pauses a test. - The
(Plus) icon clones a test. - The
(Trash) icon deletes a test.
Reports page
This is accessible from the Menu page (using the “Reports” button) and allows you to view and analyse the results of your tests in real time.

This page is divided into three distinct parts:
a. Page status

Here we have, from top to bottom:
- The name of the test defined by the user
- The number of users who have taken the test
- The status of the test (Active/Paused)
b. Page actions

The four actions are:
- 1 – The “+ New goal” button allows you to target urls used as the test’s goals. ( described in detail below)
- 2 – The “Open editor” button opens the AB Tasty editor in a new page.
- 3 – The “Public address” button allows you to share the report with a third party who is not signed up to the site by generating a public URL.
- 4 – The “Choose a filter”button allows you to filter the page’s goals based on defined parameters. (described in detail below).
c. Goals

Here is a description of elements circled in the image above:
- 1 – Information about the goal (Name, Type, URL). A goal can be minimised by clicking on this section.
- 2 – The caption with the name of each variation
- 3 – The number of visitors and number of conversions for each variation
- 4 – The conversion rate for each variation
- 5 – The improvement in each variation compared with the original and the reliability of this figure.
- 6 – Display of the winning variation
- 7 – Percentage improvement between the winning variation and the original.
- 8 – The Confidence index of the improvement. (For more details about this figure, visit the online support)
Add goal
The “+ New goal” button on the Reports page displays the following window:

- Give the goal a name
- Give the goal a condition, corresponding to the URLs targeted by this goal.
- Select its type from the list:
- “Contains” indicates that the URL should contain the same value contained in the Condition field.
- “Corresponds Exactly” indicates that the target URL is exactly the same as the one defined in the Condition field.
Filtering of results
The “Choose a filter” dropdown menu on the Reports page allows you to filter the page’s goals based on defined parameters. Once you have selected an item from the list, simply click the “Apply filter” button for the page to reload, filtering its content.
The user can choose to add several successive filters. The order they are added has no effect on results.
